Jill Canuso's passion for motorsports was first sparked while watching her father compete at North East drag strips. She became a permanent fixture in his garage by age three, retrieving wrenches, cleaning parts and bringing cups of coffee. His dedication, passion and impressive trophy shelf left a lasting impression on young Jill, forming her into the competitive, winning professional that she is today. She started riding motorcycles at five years old and collecting her own trophies won from many Track, District, State, Regional and National Championships.
A nationwide search was conducted in late 2007 for the new driver of the BIC Lighter "Queen of Diamonds". More than 80 applications from across the nation were reviewed by Hanna Motorsports and Jill's qualifications and experience put her at the top of the pack. "Jill is a pro and a natural to be on our team."
Jill has many years of racing experience. This experience includes AMA Flat Track Motorcycle Racing, AHRMA Vintage Flat Track Motorcycle Racing, NHRA Motorcycle Drag Racing, NHRA Bracket Racing (auto), SCCA solo 2, SCCA Road Racing, Micro Sprint Racing, ARDC Midget Car Racing and Professional Monster Truck Racing (driving the WRENCHEAD.com sponsored monster truck for Live Nation). Jill has numerous Track, District, State, Regional and National Championships on her resume.
"The Queen of Diamonds opportunity is one that I have earned through years of hard work and dedication. I am grateful to have been chosen to be an integral part of this well respected 3 car team." Jill always looks forward to a new challenge behind the wheel...a 300 mph challenge!
The "Queen of Diamonds" Jet Dragster. - This car has run nearly 310 MPH with an et of 5.04 seconds. The name "Queen of Diamonds" was created by Ellen Hanna. She was inspired to bring this name to the team by the reading of a recent Stephen King book - The Dark Tower IV - Wizard and Glass. Very interesting - it gives the Hanna program a name that calls attention to a woman driver and rings true to the spectator as well.
